The tyroc “Soft Walk” subflooring system
Designed by contractors and engineers, tyroc is water proof and mold and mildew resistant and is easy to install. The tyroc Soft Walk technology gives you a subfloor that is both durable and very comfortable on your family’s feet. tyroc is very quiet to walk on – its unique construction eliminates the clicking noise and lifting that are common on many wooden and plastic subfloor systems.

Environmentally Friendly
tyroc is an environmentally friendly product that eliminates millions of used tires and plastic water bottles from land fill sites. 2.5 car tires and 18.6 lbs. of plastic bottles are used in the production of each 100 sq. feet of tyroc. The surface board is made from natural, fireproof, inorganic material. Our choice of surface material eliminates the need to cut down millions of trees each year to make subfloor products for homes in America.

Energy Saving
tyroc saves money on energy – no need to run a dehumidifier either before, during or after installation. tyroc acts as a highly effective barrier to moisture and cold and can increase floor temperatures by up to 30%, which can reduce your home heating costs.

Take It Home and Install It Immediately
tyroc can be installed immediately after purchase – no need to acclimatize the panels prior to installation.

More Headroom
tyroc’s low profile ensures that a basement using tyroc has up to 1” more headroom than basements with wood subflooring system.

Easy to Carry Fast and Easy Installation
tyroc is available in easy to carry 48”X16”X 1/2”panels. The engineered 5.3 square foot panels are 20% – 30% faster to install than wood subflooring products.

tyroc panels remains firmly in place during installation which eliminates the need to continuously reset the subfloor during installation as is common with tongue and groove subfloor systems.

Adjusts to Uneven Floors
No leveling shims are required to install the tyroc subfloor. The molded rubber base is very flexible and automatically adjusts to minor variances in the floor.

Use Over New or Seasoned Concrete
Tyroc can be used over new or seasoned concrete floors. No need to wait for the concrete floor to season.

Carpet, Tile, Linoleum, Laminate Flooring
Carpets, tile and linoleum can be installed directly on top of the tyroc panels. There is no need to purchase and install additional layers plywood or ¼”underlay prior to installing carpeting, tile or linoleum.  Unlike many wood subflooring systems, belt sanding is not required to correct panel distortion caused by moisture when installing linoleum directly onto tyroc.

Stability – No Contraction and No Expansion
tyroc is virtually impervious to most elements and provides exceptional durability and stability. tyroc will not contract or expand when exposed to moisture, humidity or dry conditions.

tyroc Composition
Surface Board:
The patented tyroc surface board is composed of magnesium oxide, and is ideal for use in wet or damp areas. It is virtually impervious to fire, water and insects, will not feed mildew or mold and is non-toxic.

Molded Base:
The tyroc molded base is composed of a blend of recycled rubber from used tires and recycled plastic bottles; is virtually impervious to water and insects and will not feed mildew or mold. The engineered grooves provide   drainage to allow moisture to move to drains, provide a water proof barrier and permit airflow under the floor.

So far, we have exceeded expectations for sales in the first half of the month of January, we want to keep this pace up all year!  Very humbled by the trust you have in Sandhill Plastics as your manufacturer, and thankful for the business!!

Don’t forget we have Tyroc, (flooring) and Slat Savers (hog confinement) which are products we manufacture specifically for B-Jet and Wahoo Concrete.  If you are interested, click the links for more on these products in on the partners page on our website.

Of course we have inventory of all the Plastic Sheeting goods in black or white, so order, order, order- we will be happy to assist you.

We look forward to continuing relationships and starting new ones in 2010!

Sandhill Plastics works hard to keep competitive with the trucking companies to get the lowest rate possible, allowing

our customers to receive product without breaking the bank.  Starting Jan 1, 2010 most of the freight companies increased their shipping rates 5%.

We are still at an 85%  discount with our 2 main companies, Estes Freight, and Con-way Trucking that we use regularly.

If you need a quote ahead of ordering, call us and we will be glad to assist you in getting the best rate.

Pricing is done by the pound and the distance traveled.

Feel free to use your own methods of pickup if you like.  We accommodate the customer in any way we can.

Looking forward to getting some freight moved!

Let us explain the process of “closing the loop”

Plastic is recycled at local facilities from the general public (post-consumer), or it can be from rejected or scrap material from industries who use or make plastic, not intending to reuse that scrap (post-industrial).

Then, the plastic is taken from recycling facilities and made into bales or ground up in flakes and put into huge gaylord boxes (appx 1200 lbs) for shipping.

It arrives in truckload quantities to Sandhill Plastics and weighed.

It’s put into a washline with a hopper and washed clean and dried to prep for the extrusion process.

Now it’s ready for the extrusion process.

It’s put in the hopper of the extruder along with  granules of dye to make the color for the sheets.  Black usually doesn’t need any color added, white and other colors do.

We have a saw made as it comes down the line to cut to size.  We are able to make up to 5′ wide sheets from a 1/16″ to 1/4″ thick.  We can make the length as long as you like.

Let it cool overnight and it’s ready for shipment!

Tips for working with HDPE

Published on 09 January 2010 by Sandhill in Internal News

0

HDPE   (do’s and don’ts) Did you know???

Needs to be fastened with a screw, plastic rivet, or nail

Cannot be glued, as there is expansion and contraction- this will break away from the plastic and not stick

Cannot be painted, for the same reason listed above

Very slick- shouldn’t walk on

Can be used as a dry erase board

Will color match any color desired

Extreme temperatures will not make the plastic crack or break

Very rigid, but not brittle

Thinner sizes are flexible

Okay for food areas and processing

Solid sheet- no fillers

100% recycled, thus doing our part to “COMPLETE THE LOOP”

There is no set use for HDPE sheets,  you can use it for bird boxes to concrete forms to skateboard ramps to hog pens.  It is a very universal product.

Can be cut as wood or drilled as wood

What recycling symbols mean?

Published on 22 December 2009 by Sandhill in Internal News

HDPE (high density polyethylene) #2 plastics
Found in: Milk jugs, juice and pop bottles; bleach, irrigation pipe, detergent and household cleaner bottles; shampoo/conditioner bottles; some trash and shopping bags; motor oil bottles; butter and yogurt tubs; cereal box liners, shotgun shells
Recycling: Picked up through most curbside recycling programs, although some allow only those containers with necks.
Recycled into: Laundry detergent bottles, oil bottles, pens, recycling containers, floor tile, plastic sheeting, drainage pipe, lumber, benches, doghouses, picnic tables, fencing, liners, etc.HDPE is a versatile plastic with many end uses. It carries low risk of leaching and is readily recyclable into many goods.

At Sandhill Plastics, we purchase the #2 post consumer plastics ground into flake form.  It’s washed in an industrial washline, then melted in our extruder line and plastic sheeting is made for an infinite list of uses.  We add 2 % color concentrate for the colors or white.  Our product is 100% recycled materials, thus considered a green product.
